WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS an average of three women in the United States lose their lives daily as a result of involvement in domestic violence; and
WHEREAS Side by Side, the Domestic Violence Response Team that serves the municipalities of Cherry Hill and Haddonfield, and the Camden County Women’s Center in providing information on domestic violence, community resources, safety planning, and strong and caring support for victims of domestic violence; and
WHEREAS through hard work and in-depth training, this volunteer team strives to decrease emotional trauma experienced by victims, increase a victim’s ability to make an educated decision about their options, and increase the victim’s access to community resources; and
WHEREAS special recognition is given to the following Side by Side volunteers for their hard work and dedicated commitment to breaking the cycle of violence:

WHEREAS October is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time when we stand as a community with those affected by this crime, recognize those who have stepped-up to break the cycle of violence, and recommit to putting an end to domestic violence in America; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council continue to strongly support Side by Side and recognize the assistance provided to victims of domestic violence;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim October as
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing this historic time and remembering those impacted by this terrible crime.
