WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS 2012 marks the Horticultural Society of Southern New Jersey’s Ninetieth year as an official botanical organization, originally founded in 1922 as the Dahlia Society; and
WHEREAS over the course of the organization’s tenure membership has expanded to include over one hundred active members who participate in the monthly meetings and community projects; and
WHEREAS community service and involvement includes annual community outreach events such as planting and maintenance of the public outdoor gardens at Cherry Hill’s Croft Farm and landscaping at Jake’s Place playground, in addition to education outreach, and funding of an annual scholarship awarded to a graduating High School Senior; and
WHEREAS Mayor Cahn and Township Council are honored to recognize the Horticultural Society of Southern New Jersey’s exemplary efforts and continued commitment of service to the Township of Cherry Hill and special stewardship to the Greater South Jersey Region.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby recognize the
90th Anniversary of the Horticultural Society of Southern New Jersey
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the Horticultural Society of Southern New Jersey for their ninety years of commitment to the beautification and service to the region, and the continued success of this community organization.
