WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and events; and
WHEREAS in 1978, the Cherry Hill African American Civic Association was organized as a forum for participation of minority residents in community life in Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS the 2012 Cherry Blossom Jazz Luncheon marks the organizations thirty-fourth anniversary and thirty-one years of providing scholarships to Cherry Hill High School African American college bound graduates; and
WHEREAS throughout the years the Cherry Hill African American Civic Association, has and continues to, encourage active participation by members in all levels of the election process, as well as active participation in civic associations; and
WHEREAS the Township recognizes all the enormous contributions of all civic associations and the powerful impact had on the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council strongly support the initiatives and events promoted by the Cherry Hill African American Civic Association and commend the hard work and dedication of all members involved.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim May 5, 2012 as
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing this historic time.
