WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS in May of 2010, Kevin Turner, a former Philadelphia Eagle and Cherry Hill resident, was diagnosed with ALS; and
WHEREAS after his diagnosis, Kevin established the Kevin Turner Foundation with the mission to bring attention to ALS, to raise awareness about the seriousness of brain trauma in athletes its connection to ALS, and to financially support efforts to study, treat, prevent, and ultimately cure this disease; and
WHEREAS Kevin Turner’s strong and positive outlook has attributed to the success of the Foundation and increased public awareness of ALS and the connection to brain trauma in athletes; and
WHEREAS it is volunteers and dedicated community members like Kevin,, who serve as active participants and advocates for charitable causes such as the Kevin Turner Foundation, who make Cherry Hill Township the wonderful community it is today; and
WHEREAS Mayor Cahn and Township Council are honored to recognize the exemplary efforts of Good Samaritans and community leaders such as Kevin Turner and the entire Kevin Turner Foundation; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, June 18, 2012, as
Kevin Turner Foundation Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing Kevin Turner and the Foundation for continued successful fundraising efforts and direct impact on research and awareness of ALS.
