WHEREAS impaired drivers on our nation’s roads kill someone every 30 minutes, 50 people per day, and almost 18,000 people each year; and
WHEREAS alcohol impairment is a factor in 25 percent of motor vehicle fatalities in the state of New Jersey; and
WHEREAS the end-of-year holiday season is traditionally a time of social gatherings that often
include alcohol; and
WHEREAS the State of New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety has asked law
enforcement agencies throughout the state to participate in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Year End Statewide Crackdown; and
WHEREAS the Cherry Hill Township Police Department will participate in this project, scheduling
special patrols for impaired-driving enforcement from Dec. 7, 2012, through Jan. 2, 2013.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby declare Township support for the
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Statewide Crackdown
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and remind all residents to be aware of the dangers of drinking and driving this holiday season, and all year long.
