WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS The Chinese School of South Jersey is the largest and oldest school of its kind in southern New Jersey. Established in 1969 by families seeking to teach and preserve traditional Chinese language and culture - their mission remains the same today, and the school continues to be managed and operated by volunteer parents; and
WHEREAS this year marks the Chinese School of South Jersey’s 50th anniversary as they continue to proudly serve Cherry Hill and South Jersey communities; and
WHEREAS the school continues to welcome all members of the communities regardless of age, gender, religion, and ethnicity; and
WHEREAS today, Sunday, February 10, 2019, members of the Chinese School of South Jersey have come together with members of the community to celebrate and honor this incredible milestone by having their annual Chinese New Year celebration; and
WHEREAS this special celebration highlights the school’s mission of providing the community with an appreciation of Chinese language, culture and history; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are pleased and honored to join in celebrating the 2019 Chinese New Year, and wish the Chinese School of South Jersey and the entire Chinese community a very Happy New Year.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby recognize the
Chinese School of South Jersey
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and urge all citizens to join with me and Council in celebrating the Chinese New Year, and in wishing everyone a year filled with good fortune, health, happiness, and prosperity.
