WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS friends, family, and colleagues have come together to honor longtime campus security and student support supervisor, Dan DiRenzo, as he retires after 11 year of service to Cherry Hill High School West; and
WHEREAS Dan, who was affectionately known by his West family as “Mr. D”, will be forever associated with the Jones Gym entrance where he greeted everyone every day with a smile and a robust, Good Morning!; and
WHEREAS throughout the years Dan braved many harsh weather conditions – from the icy and snowy winters to the heavy spring showers, but never let that get in the way of doing his job. He remained reliable and you could also count on his to “buck up” and adapt; and
WHEREAS Dan epitomizes everything that is “The West Way” through his character, his dedication and his humor, serving as a role model for students past, present and future; and
WHEREAS his devotion to West could be felt throughout the school, whether he was cheering on students during sporting events or sneaking on stage at the end of school plays to take a bow; and
WHEREAS his influence extended beyond the school yard, always giving back to the community he grew up in, from serving as Vice President of the Erlton Civic Association to sitting on the Cherry Hill Zoning Board, and to participating in Dancing with the Cherry Hill Stars, despite his two left feet; and
WHEREAS outside the walls of West, Dan’s main passion lies in his devotion to his family – his wife of 22 years, Lisa, his children, Danny and Jaclyn, and his delightful grandchildren, Grayson, Celeste, Harrison and Anderson; and
WHEREAS as Dan takes his final bow and prepares to begin a new chapter in his life, we wish to celebrate his contributions to our school system and our children.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to honor and recognize
Dan DiRenzo
as he retires from the Cherry Hill School District, and do urge all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in expressing our gratitude for the positive influence Dan’s work has had on hundreds of students throughout his career.
