WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS public recreation programs, particularly youth sports such as Little League Baseball, are an integral part of the Cherry Hill community, helping to preserve a special quality of life, and giving our young people a chance to participate in a healthy activity that fosters teamwork and builds strong character and lifelong skills; and
WHEREAS tonight, the Cherry Hill community comes together to honor a man, Charlie Miracola, who has committed himself to making Cherry Hill Atlantic Little League a better place for the last thirty three years; and
WHEREAS it takes a great deal of dedication and voluntary sacrifice to run a little league; and
WHEREAS it takes great effort to prepare for each new baseball season, and an even greater effort to successfully operate a league throughout the spring and summer; and
WHEREAS Charlie first began volunteering his time at CHALL in 1985 as a coach for his oldest son’s team; he later became league President, where he strived to make CHALL one of the top Little League organizations in New Jersey; and
WHEREAS during his tenure, Charlie accomplished many monumental tasks: he was instrumental in establishing the girl’s Little League, he built a clubhouse for the organization and was responsible for building Atlantic’s signature Major’s field; and
WHEREAS in addition to the countless number of Cherry Hill families that have been touched by his gracious generosity, the entire Cherry Hill community is stronger because of his dedication and commitment; and
WHEREAS on behalf of the entire Cherry Hill community, I want to thank him and let him know that we appreciate the year-round effort it takes to build, grow, and sustain a little league, from the winter-time Board meetings to the spring-time field clean-up to the summer treats at the concession stand.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to proclaim Tuesday, January 23, 2018, to be
Charlie Miracola Day
and express our gratitude and appreciation for his stewardship and service to the Cherry Hill community, and ask all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in thanking Charlie for volunteering, and helping to build memories for children and their families that will last their entire lifetimes, and for his role in making our community a better place to live, work and play, and in wishing him all the best as he begins this new chapter in his life.
