WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, members of Temple Beth Sholom of Cherry Hill come together to honor Cantor Jen Cohen, who recently celebrated ten years of service to Temple Beth Sholom; and
WHEREAS she has brought recognition to Temple Beth Sholom by participating in the Cantors Assembly and programs of the Cantors Institute of Jewish Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS Cantor Cohen has brought exciting musical programs, including “Divas On The Bima” and “Shul Of Rock,” and initiated programs of Jewish learning including “Sect In The City”, “Soul Sisters”, and “Yad Squad” to Temple Beth Sholom, the Community and many congregations around the country; and
WHEREAS Cantor Cohen enriches the Jewish community by teaching classes and presiding over important communal and Jewish events, and filling our sanctuary, synagogue, and hearts with her beautiful music including creating and leading the iShir Youth Choir and leading the Makhelat Beth Sholom Adult Choir; and
WHEREAS Cantor Cohen’s passion for pastoral care shows through her every action, and she has demonstrated a true gift for creating a caring and inclusive community that extends far beyond the congregation including leading community trips to Spain and Eastern Europe and led Confirmation Class Trips to Israel; and
WHEREAS for these reasons and many others, Mayor Cahn and the members of Cherry Hill Township Council are pleased to celebrate Cantor Cohen’s ten years of service to Temple Beth Sholom of Cherry Hill.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to honor and celebrate
Cantor Jen Cohen
for her contributions and service to Cherry Hill Township and Temple Beth Sholom, and ask that all citizens join with me and the members of Township Council in wishing Cantor Cohen all the best as she continues to serve Temple Beth Sholom and make Cherry Hill a better, stronger place to live, work and play.
