Spring & Summer Safety Tips

  • Campfire safety should include checking for current restrictions.
  • Chimineas & Outdoor Fireplaces are legal in the State of NJ; however, restrictions exist which must be adhered to, along with recommended safety practices.
  • Downed Wires should always be considered a danger. Report downed wires immediately by calling PSE&G, 1-800-436-7734.
  • Fireworks The sale, use, distribution, or possession of aerial fireworks is illegal in the state of New Jersey, except as permitted public fireworks displays. As of June 28, 2017, ground based sparkling devices and novelties are legal in NJ for use by the public 16 years of age or older; for additional information please see P.L. 2017, c. 92.
  • Generator use can present several hazards when used improperly.
  • Grilling outdoors has led to several instances of house fires. Don't leave grills unattended!
  • Hurricane conditions, current and impending, are provided by the National Hurricane Center.
  • Lightning strikes occur most often during the summer.
  • Swimming Pool safety for children, adults and pool owners.
  • Wildland Fire preparedness and current conditions are provided by Forest Fire Service.
